I made this simple graphic as a message to all on this Thanksgiving Holiday. This bold but very clear meme applies to all. Most of you have something to be thankful for this Thanksgiving. I know I personally have so much to be thankful for. I could ramble off a dozen or more reasons to be thankful here, but I'll stick with the obvious. I'm forever being told that I am blessed. And each time I hear that, I acknowledge it. I am blessed. I truly am.
I have a truly loving family. From my immediate family to those who live all over the country. My wife and three adult children, with their spouses and significant others. To my three grandchildren (with one on the way). To my brothers and sisters, and my two brother in-laws. To my nieces and nephews. To my many cousins. And our Grandma and Grandpa Rastl. I am thankful for them all.
And I have some of the best friends a man could ever ask for. I really do. I am so thankful to have them in my life. And I make a point to surround myself with them all. And although there are friends and family in my life that have many miles that separate us, you are never far from my thoughts. Know that I think of you often and hope and pray that you are doing well.
I am thankful for all the living veterans who served our country. And I acknowledge those who made the supreme sacrifice for our nation. I am thankful for all the police
and firefighters. I am thankful for all the teachers, professors, and healthcare workers. I am thankful for all the clergy, and all the social workers out there. I am thankful for those who volunteer for every single aspect of our lives. You are the TRUE unsung heroes. Volunteers.
I'm so very thankful for all the talented surfers, incredible photographers, artists, stoked readers, and all the generous sponsors. I Love you all.
While I love to point out all the good there is in our lives. There's still that 10%.
The haters. The negative 10%. Those who see the cup as half empty. Those that can't see beyond their own blind hate. And no matter what you do, or say, they can only see hate. Sometimes it's real, but other times it's clouded.
Whether it be politics, religion, and even sports. They are consumed with hate. I know I'm not telling you anything new here. I'm just acknowledging that this hate exists in our world. And the sad part is, I don't see it getting better anytime too soon.
And I am not without my own faults and sins. None of us are.
But I am, on my own account, trying to be a better person. Hell, I've even surprised myself a few times this past year. I have tried to see beyond the hate to reach out to certain individuals, and although my efforts fell on deaf ears, I still try. And I think I did a remarkable job in showing my own restraint, when a certain individual went on a tirade of insults and lies last summer on social media saying the most vile things about me. It took every single fiber in my body not to react to those lies. And those who know me best, know exactly what I'm talking about.
And look. I'm not Jesus Christ here. I'm not speaking from his pulpit.
My late mother had a print of Christ in the hallway of our front door when we were kids. It read: "When I Forgive-I Forget." My own personal mantra might be a slight variation of that one. "I might forgive-But I'll never forget." However now that I am in my 70's, the forgetting part seems to come natural.
So there's hope for those of you who might have wronged me along the way. I might just completely forget all about it. But don't count on it. Ha ha.
And speaking of counting...how about those New England Patriots?
I guess I have to say that I am REALLY, TRUTHFULLY THANKFUL for the New England Patriots. And I'm really thankful for Mac Jones. Wow. If you're a Patriots fan you know what I'm talking about with this kid. The best rookie of the QB bunch. Nobody is even coming close to what this kid has been doing. All of a sudden we are nipping at the heels of the AFC East leaders the Buffalo Bills. And you know they know what we are capable of. I almost felt bad for Matt Ryan last Thursday. In my honest opinion? I don't think Ryan or the Falcons ever got over that 28-3 lead they had over the Patriots late in the 3rd Qtr in the Super Bowl. I mean how could they? That worm is still stuck in Ryan's head. And no matter what he tries to do, it's still there. 28-3? Ouch.
And it's not just Mac Jones. The whole team is "WOKE." Hope I'm not offending any of you for using that term. But they have awoken. The offense, the defense (who are getting better and better each week), and our special teams. And our coaching. Josh McDaniels is hitting some serious strides in his offensive play calling. The NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS have wakened right the hell up.
One thing's for certain.
The whole league is aware of them now.
Just want to point out on the local High school football level that the WINNACUNNET WARRIORS did one hell of a job this year going 11-1.
Nobody likes losing. In fact, if you show me someone who doesn't mind losing? I will show you a loser. Coach Ryan Francouer is no loser. He did one hell of a job this year coaching these young men. Congratulations on a very exciting football season. Hold your heads high WARRIORS. You played the game. Photo by Matt Parker

KSM Photoshop of the Week
Now just when you thought you'd seen it all with Khalid Sheik Mohammed, this has to show up. Clearly it appears that the Pilgrim Khaliddy is trying to pull a fast one on this Native American Indian at Thanksgiving. Now before any of you get uptight at this image, just remember this is just here to make you smile. It's not real.
You already know, it's just my weekly photoshopped image on one of the world's most evil human beings on the planet. KSM. Besides, I think the Native American ended up clubbing KSM in the skull shortly after this exchange.
Alls well that ends well. Happy Thanksgiving.
And so my friends, please take advantage of this weekly photo shop of the mastermind who planned 9-11 and resulted in the deaths of 3,000 innocent civilians by KSM (Khalid Sheik Mohammed).
*Note to self -must pick up a case of FROZEN TURKEYS at

Yesterday- ALLEN BIGBEE 2002 IN MAINE.
(Below) This is two weeks in a row that I posted one of Jerry Law's pics. He has done a remarkable job of documenting the Southern/Central Maine surf scene over the years. I just hope that some of his friends and fellow surfers are aware of these postings. He's a great guy who writes me the most classic old school letters.

I kept a daily Blog on my CATCH A WAVE FOR MOLLY surf campaign, when I surfed every single day for 365 consecutive days. Click on the Banner above to read entries of my daily journey. There's some really interesting and true experiences
that happened during that year. Some of which are to this day, unexplainable. Some are just mind blowing. But all true.
I started on July 26th, 2010 and ended on July 26th, 2011.
Some rainy Sunday, pour yourself a cup and go through the journal.
Pay close attention to the month of May in 2011. Read that month and let me know what you think of that. Be forewarned it will change you forever.
